Gran Via Street Photography
Gran Via is the best known street of Spain's capital city. Over the years, it has been given a number of names : Avenida de Rusia, Avenida del Quince y Medio and especially Avenida de Jose Antonio. On April 4, 1910 began the massive works that were to forever change Madrid in an attempt to decongest the city centre. Over 300 houses were torn down, 32 blocks were built and the works affected a total of 48 streets. After decades of intensive work Gran Via was a reality but it wasn't until 1981 that it was finally officially named Gran Via.
